Wife’s new phone arrived – Samsung Galaxy S Review

My wife’s new phone came today and because she isn’t that technologically minded she asked me to set it up. I though while I was at it I would write a quick review.

Looks and design:

As with many of the latest mobile phones on the market nowadays, the Samsung Galaxy S is styled similar to the iPhone with its curved back design and minimalist front; at a glance you could be mistaken for thinking it’s an iPhone, but all in all a nicely styled phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S has a huge 4 inch touchscreen AMOLED display and I have to say that this is the nicest mobile phone screen I have ever seen, way better than my HTC Magic screen and even the iPhone 3GS screen; I haven’t seen the iPhone 4’s screen yet, but it may be better than that.

Usability:

The Galaxy S runs the Google Android operating system, which is fully customisable depending on your requirements and you can also download other applications and games from the Android Market. The screen is very responsive and opening multiple applications is simple and easy without any lag.

Being quite a responsive screen I found texting a little frustrating as my fingers are quite big and hitting the wrong letter is easy if you’ve got your fingers even slightly wrong.

The 5 megapixel camera takes decent enough pictures, but as with every mobile phone they are not as good as a dedicated digital camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S also has a multimedia player, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity and 16GB of internal memory; there is also a microSD card slot that can take up to 32GB, which will be plenty for all your music and data.

All in all the Samsung Galaxy S is a great phone and is bound to rival even the iPhone 4 because of its screen and contract options; my wife got the handset for free and pays £25 per month with 6 months free and 400 minutes, 300 texts.
