Passing your driving test is a great feeling!

After you have had enough experience on the road, you instructor feel you are ready and you have passed your theory test you can now take your practical driving test, you can book to take your test in either the car from your driving school in Newcastle or your own if you wish.

Before you take your practical test you examiner will firstly give you an eyesight check, here you have to be able to read a number plate that either 20.5 meters for an old style number plate and 20 meters for the new style. You have 3 chances to read the number plate correctly, if your examiner is satisfied you can then you will proceed with the next part however if he is not satisfied then you will not be able to continue on with your test.

Before you set out on the road you will be asked two vehicle safety questions which are about basic vehicle safety and maintenance which the driver should carry out to ensure the vehicle is safe for use, they will be one ’show me’ and one ‘tell me’. If you get one or both questions wrong it will result in one driving fault being recorded.

You set out and your examiner will examine your general driving and if you adhere to road safety, they will also ass you on two exercises which could be either reversing around a corner, turn in the road and reverse parking. Your examiner will have gone through these exercises with you to make sure you are competent. You test will last round 40 minutes and once you arrive back at the test centre you will be informed whether you have passed your test or failed. If yoiu fail your test the examiner will go through where you went wrong and give you hints and tips where you need to improve.

If you do fail it’s important to get straight back into it and continue practicing with your driving school Newcastle so you can take your test again.
