Leverages NNM into adaptive service management platform Enables the enterprise to correlate network problems with their associated business impact
Imagine for NNM (NNM Xtender) enables the enterprise to correlate-faster, network problems with their associated business impact.
NNM Xtender provides:
Status – Sold to leading European/Israeli customers (France Telecom, Orange, SNECMA, Israel Defense Force, IAF, Ministry of finance, more)
To achieve greater understanding of the significance of each failing node, business views of your network must be created. These views should contain the relevant elements that support your business processes. With existing tools, creating businessoriented maps and keeping them up to date is a manual, tedious task that is practically impossible. Xor's NNM Xtender uses the NNM infrastructure and enhances it to provide automatic generation of multiple business views and network service maps. With NNM Xtender, operators can easily manage distributed applications and quickly understand the impact that failing nodes have on the business, allowing for more intelligent prioritization of problems. NNM Xtender enables the enterprise to create organizational views based on information found in your enterprises databases. Thus, data from external repositories, such as asset and inventory systems, can be extracted to create business views.
NNM Xtender solves the problem of map database corruption/deletion. NNM Xtender map engine learns the logic behind the maps and enables full recovery. Maps will be automatically rebuilt and enterprise operational availability will remain intact. NNM Xtender can control the colors of symbols on the NNM maps based on traps received from the node, or based on information external to NNM (node CPU utilization, node memory status, etc). This option allows you also to manage non SNMP NNM Xtender enables the enterprise to correlatefaster, network problems with their associated business impact.
NNM Xtender provides:
NNM Xtender provides advanced real-time monitoring with parallel status updates of IP and monitoring with parallel status updates of IP and non-IP interfaces. This mechanism improves the existing NNM engine by several orders of magnitude, allowing for a single NNM to manage up to 100,000 IP addresses, even on a Microsoft Windows platform.
NNM Xtender provides automatic generation and maintenance of business views and network service maps. NNM Xtender leverages existing NNM network maps into business-oriented network service maps. NNM Xtender's innovative map generation engine and its easy-to-use Map Designer Wizard, enable you to build any type of view under NNM within minutes. It is possible to specify on every NNM Xtender view on which NNM map will it appear.
Using NNM Xtender, you will be able to easily build multiple views of your network representing the various services in your business. You can create a view for every business process in your enterprise. These views may contain the relevant elements that participate in the business processes. This enables your operators to rate the problems they encounter by their business importance.
Using NNM Xtender it is now possible to control the color of the NNM map symbols. Change a symbol color based on traps sent by the managed nodes (CPU high utilization trap, Fan status trap, etc.), or set colors based on events that are external to NNM such as event log records, or statistics collection. This function allows management of non SNMP devices & application based services using NNM maps.
NNM Xtender learns the logic behind existing maps. Maps will be automatically generated when NNM databases are deleted and the nodes are rediscovered. This function increases operational uptime and management solution availability. With NNM Xtender downtime for manual map recreation is reduced dramatically and enterprises NOC high-availability remains intact.
NNM Xtender allows you to automatically build and maintain maps based on information found in your enterprise databases. For example you can automatically build and maintain geographic and organizational views of your network by connecting NNM Xtender with your Asset Management repository. You can also automatically create business views of your critical processes by extracting information for your asset and inventory systems.
NNM Xtender provides advanced real-time monitoring with parallel status updates of IP and non-IP interfaces. This mechanism improves the existing NNM engine by several orders of magnitude, allowing for a single NNM to manage up to 100,000 IP addresses, even on a Microsoft Windows platform.
Currently NNM uses sequential polling mechanisms, allowing for the polling of network devices one at a time. This process is time consuming and could cause outages to remain undetected until the next monitoring cycle occurs. In large networks this could mean as much as 30 minutes or more of potential undetected network downtime. NNM Xtender enhances existing NNM polling mechanism by supporting more than 20,000 pings per minute using a parallel and asynchronous polling engine. This capability is fully integrated into NNM. Using the NNM Xtender, network managers are instantly informed about network failures. This enhancement is essential for mission critical networks and reduces the need for a hierarchy of NNM servers (Manager Of Managers). This simplifies the management environment and reduces costly downtime and maintenance overhead.
The NNM Xtender's monitoring engine also uses SNMP polling. This enables monitoring of both non-IP and unreachable interfaces as is the case with out-of-band management. The same parallel and asynchronous mechanisms are used here and provide the same performance both for the IP and Non-IP interfaces.
