iPhone 4S – is it worth upgrading?

A few days ago, Apple announce its newest mobile phone the iPhone 4S and this got me wondering, is it worth upgrading? The iPhone 4S is an upgraded version of the iPhone 4 and boasts a faster processor, an 8 megapixel camera and Siri voice recognition.

The iPhone 4S uses the same case and screen as the iPhone 4, so would someone upgrading from a iPhone 4 notice much difference? Yes the phone would run faster, but is it worth signing up to a 2 year deal and paying £200 for the phone worth it when most of the competitors have similar specked devices for less money.

Yes the Siri voice recognition looks good and the better camera is a bonus, but unless you have an iPhone 3 or 3GS then I wouldn’t upgrade. For those with iPhone 4’s I would wait till next year for the iPhone 5 which could once again break the mould when it comes to smartphones.

My broadband wasn’t working so been practicing my airbrushing

Over the weekend I noticed that my broadband kept cutting out; I would reset the router and it would work for around 10 minutes before cutting out again. So instead of faffing around with the internet I decided to go to the local art store and pick up some airbrush supplies.

While I was there I bought an easel, a set of small paint brushes and one of those 12 inch wooden mannequins all for under £15, bargain. I went home and set up the easel in the garage, got all my airbrushing stuff out and started practising.

I am mainly practising my lines and dots at different heights away from the page. This is one of the techniques I learnt in the book I reviewed last week, Airbrush: The Complete Studio Handbook and it really helps you to get a feel for the airbrush.

I also make the shield detailed in the book (see pic below) from some over heat projection film I had laying around and it works great. All in all I spent a couple of hours practising before the kids got back and demanded that I fix the internet.

After about an hour trying to find out what the problem was and phoning BT up, it turned out that one of the pipes had gone down which meant most of the people in my area were suffering from the same problem. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow, but if not there is always airbrushing to pass the time.

Been playing the Battlefield 3 beta, its great!

As you may be aware I like my gaming, especially first person shooters and I’ve been playing the new Battlefield 3 beta. I got access to the beta 48 hours early as I had a copy of Medal of Honor and I have to say that EA and Dice have definitely come up trumps.

The beta contains only one map Operation Metro, but it does show off the stunning visuals and assault game play we are all use to from the battlefield franchise. There aren’t any vehicles unfortunately so we will have to wait for the full release to get them, but it doesn’t detract from the gameplay whatsoever.

The map starts in a park with two control points that you have to either defend or attack. If both command posts are destroyed you move into the subway, then the tube station and finally the city on the other side. The map is huge and a big departure from the close nit maps on Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The fluidity in which you can jump over most objects is a nice touch, as well as the destructible landscape. Throwing a grenade for instance, when it blows up it will take out trees and bits of wall.

The graphics are simply spectacular and really immerse you in the game and I can’t wait to play the full game when it comes out in October. Until then I’ll have a chance to practice at least until the 11th October when the beta ends.

Dyson unveils heater just in time for winter

Dyson, famous for its vacuum cleaners and more recently their bladeless fans has unveiled its newest product, the Dyson Hot heater. Using the companies patented Air Multiplier technology, the Dyson Hot can heat up a room quickly and efficiently.

With similar styling to the Dyson Fan, the Dyson Hot can be set to a temperature of between 1 and 37 degrees Celsius by the user and has taken a team of 22 engineers nearly three years to develop.

Talking about the product, Sir James Dyson said, “Other fan heaters rely on inefficient motors or dust friendly grills,” adding that, “As the heat rises you’re left with a partially heated room and a worrying burning smell. Dyson engineers have developed a heater that produces no smell and heats the whole room”.

The Dyson Hot is available now from their website for £269.99 and will be released nationwide in October.

Now if only I had £269 to spend on a heater instead of using my crappy £30 one then I’d be happy.

Demystifying UK Parship Dating Services

There are many assumptions about UK Parship, some of which are false. Many of these assumptions have been widely adopted because of what people have experienced with online dating sites; however, most of them are untrue and unproven. This article will highlight some of the falsehoods you may have heard about online dating, and create a clearer picture of online dating in general.

The first incorrect assumption is that if you get into online dating, you will never find a partner, and if you do, it will not last. Studies have shown that dating between any two people is unique to them alone. It is very rare for any group of people to have the same dating experiences as another group.

The second is that most of the people who use online dating websites are sexual offenders and hypocrites. Although it is a fact that online dating has been associated with sexual offences and abuse cases, it does not mean that everyone who uses online dating services is a sexual offender.

Lastly, it is false to assume that your first experience on Parship dating will not work and you will have to kiss many frogs before meeting prince charming – this is a terrible generality that many have fallen for. Unfortunately, many people go on dates with the preconceived notion that they will not find a potential suitor.

All of these assumptions are fallacies that could harm the potential of online dating.

My LG Optimus 3D review

I finally got my new mobile phone on Saturday the brand new LG Optimus 3D and though I’d write a short review. First off the box; the LG Optimus 3d comes in a rather nifty looking red box and when you lift the lid up the first thing you see is the phone in all its glory. Underneath the phone is the usual headphone USB cable, mains adaptor and manuals and that’s pretty much it.

Once powered on the phone looks amazing and the screen is bright and easy to see even in the sunlight. Be warned that this is a big device and much bigger than my old HTC Magic and even bigger than the iPhone 4, so if you have small hands or want something a bit more compact you’d be best thinking of another phone.

The LG Optimus 3D comes with Android 2.2 installed, but is due an update to 2.3 in the near future. Having an Android phone before this new phone is a breeze to use and super fast. It comes complete with Twitter and Facebook apps pre-installed and a dedicated button on the side to change it to 3D mode.

The phone comes with a few 3D videos and previews installed and a couple of 3D games too so you can experience it out of the box. I have to say that I’m impressed so far with the 3D quality and the camera and video capturing modes also work really well. It takes a bit of getting used to when you first look at the 3D content, but after a few seconds your eyes adjust to give you a feeling of depth.

All in all, the LG Optimus 3D is a good phone, it is fast and the 3D content will undoubtedly continue to grow especially after the release of the HTC Evo 3D. If you want a new phone that is fast enough to last and the benefits of a 3D screen then you can’t go wrong with the LG Optimus 3D.

Bought a new mouse for my laptop – the Logitech Performance MX mouse

I’ve had my current mouse I use with my laptop for nearly a year now and decided I needed a new one so set about looking on the internet. I wanted a decent mouse that was wireless as the one I had was wired and always got in the way. There are plenty of wireless mice on the market but when I saw the Logitech Performance MX mouse I just had to have it.

This mouse is wireless and has a rechargeable battery which can be charged through USB via the cable included. The best thing about this mouse is that you can use it on virtually any surface including glass so if I want to move the laptop to another part of the house I don’t have to cart the mouse mat with it.

The buttons are programmable and the mouse is perfectly sculpted to fit your right hand. It’s a bit pricey, I paid £60.99 from Dixons, but it’s well worth the money if you’re in the market for a sturdy new mouse.

Forex Brokers – finding the right one

The largest platform worldwide for buying and selling currencies, the Forex or Foreign Exchange Market, is a rapidly popular market to trade on.

Speculative trades are made by individual investors, corporations and banks, based on fundamental and technical analysis. Experts on Forex trading can track their movements and past successes to create their own strategies, however many also use the information provided by a Forex brokerage services to indicate how and when they trade. Due to the leverage that brokers need to provide, most are linked to large banks or lending institutions and should be registered with the Futures Commission Market (FCM), which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Leverage is used as it potentially increases the return of an investment created through options and percentages, helping both the investor and broker to invest or operate.

Forex brokers do not take a commission; their fee is instead taken from the spread that they offer, which is calculated based on the number of pips. As with brokers in other markets, Forex brokers such as CitiFX Pro offer a range of trading platforms for their clients to choose from, to suit their particular needs. They also typically offer two or more account options, mini or premium accounts, depending on the capital that the client would like to invest. It is important to look at services provided, along with leverage and tools when selecting a Forex broker, as there are many to choose from.

Benefits of Gambling Online

While many prefer onsite gambling to the relatively lonely world of online gambling, the online version does have its advantages. One main advantage is the offers online sites typically provide. From initial sign up bonuses to bonuses awarded following a number of wins, almost all licensed gambling sites provide some good offers and bonuses.

Since rules and restrictions are often based upon the human factor in a casino, they may not be as set in stone as they are online. Online sites are secure and offer better, clearer rules and restrictions. Another benefit is the ability to play from home. You are not in a crowded area where you could easily be distracted. There is also no pressure from peers. You have more fun and stay relaxed while playing.

Saving Money

When you are at a casino, you are often tempted to spend extra money. This comes in the form of drinks, food, tips and even special offers on rooms. At home, there are no temptations. You only spend what you decide to bet. You feel no pressure to tip casino employees, including waiters and dealers.

Many times you continue playing simply because you want to prove to others how good you are. When gambling online, there is less competition. Since you do not see anyone you are playing with, you can easily quit at any time without feeling like you have to prove something. No one will say a word to you when you decide you have had enough for the day.
