Practical, affordable conservatory blinds

A conservatory can add considerable value to your home.  It provides ideal family space, giving a sense of openness, and letting in plenty of ambient light.  However, a conservatory with wide-open windows lets sun in indiscriminately, and does little to control temperature, making the room too warm in the summer and too cold in winter.  Adding window coverings in your conservatory can make the room much more comfortable, practical and useful.

With a wide variety of colours, styles and patterns available, conservatory blinds can match any home’s décor.  Chic, stylish conservatory blinds bring the room together.  Liners and thicker material can add practical temperature control as well, helping to keep your conservatory warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Vertical conservatory blinds are a good choice for tall windows.  Roman blinds are another attractive choice for the conservatory.  With a good selection of materials and designs, there are conservatory blinds to match any lifestyle and any décor.  Depending on your style, budget and family’s preferences, conservatory blinds come in a wide variety of styles and colours, with options to suit your every need.

Found a new app today – Draw Something

Looking around in the Google Play store today, I found a great game called Draw Something. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before because after I loaded it on and set it up most of my Facebook friends were on it.

The game, as the name suggests makes you draw pictures of a certain word, a bit like Pictionary but on your mobile phone. Once you’ve drawn your chosen word it sends it to a friend to guess. For every correct guess you receive coins based on the complexity of the word and these can be traded for new colours or ‘bombs’ which get rid of all of the letters not relevant to the word you are guessing.

It’s a great game and funny too, as you try to decipher what the other people have drawn.

Draw Something is available now from the App Store and Google Play Store; there is a free version with adverts or an ad free version for £1.24, bargain!

My sports betting weekend

After writing my post about European Championship betting I had somewhat of a sports betting weekend and bet on a numbers of football games, as well as doing a bit of snooker betting too.

I placed some full time result bets on Chelsea and Tottenham to win which they did, but lost money on Newcastle as they were beaten by Wigan 4-0. I have also bet on the Manchester derby for a United win obviously (hope I haven’t jinxed it!).

Whilst on the betting site I decided to place a few bets on the snooker; I don’t really know a lot about snooker so I bet on the only two people I know, Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O’Sullivan and it looks like I might win these two bets too.

Betting on the European Championships

With the football season nearly over (come-on Man Utd!) and the warmer weather (fingers crossed) coming, there is something to look forward to this summer, the European Championships.

I’m quite partial to a bit of football betting and the European Championships is a great stage to have a flutter due to its group stage and knockout stage format. I like to have a couple of accumulator bets during the group stages and bet on individual teams during the knockout stages.

The accumulator is based on 4 match results within a single bet, this means you get better odds and I will usually bet on the favourites, such as France and England to beat the Ukraine and Spain to beat the Republic of Ireland.

During the knockout stages I will usually bet on the first goal scorer as football bets usually don’t take into account extra time or penalties unless you bet on them individually.

Will I bet on England to win it? Well at 8/1 it’s surely worth a pop, but I wouldn’t bet too much money on it, not with the likes of Spain, Germany and Holland in the mix.

Hopefully the match odds will be up soon so I can get started and place some European Championship bets.

Energy Efficient Heating

Many turn to underfloor heating as a way to make their homes warmer.  However, some also look towards this method of heating as a way to save energy and help the environment.

There is some controversy over just how energy efficient underfloor heating is and whether it is more energy efficient at all in comparison to conventional heating methods.  Estimates have placed underfloor heating as everything from ten percent more wasteful than traditional heating methods to 52 percent more efficient.

One key element to how efficient underfloor heating will be is underfloor heating insulation.  This can make or break the heating system in terms of efficiency.  Good underfloor heating insulation will allow the maximum warmth from the least possible electricity and power.  Poor underfloor heating, conversely, will allow heat to escape and will therefore use more energy in order to keep the house warm.

Another consideration when thinking about efficiency is the house itself.  Every home is going to be different and have unique factors that contribute to or detract from energy efficiency.  One key element of underfloor heating is that the objects in a room can absorb heat and become secondary emitters.  A room more able to do this will require less energy for heating than a room filled with objects that can not become secondary emitters.

The power source is also a big factor.  Some underfloor heating systems rely on electricity while other underfloor heating systems use a water-based system or underfloor heating mats.  All of these different systems require different amounts of energy to run.

Using Printers in Birmingham

A strong marketing strategy within any business requires the production of quality documentation.  This is where local printers in Birmingham can help by helping you complete your communications programme.  Good quality documents printed on high quality paper not only provide a lasting impression, they can, in combination with corporate branding, create a professional image.

Features of a Printing Company

Printers in Birmingham, printers in London or in any large city, will be able to help you with the following aspects of your business, whether it is a new or already existing enterprise.

•    Communications strategy – printers may be able to review your existing processes and work with you to identify new opportunities and set targets for your business.
•    Business Development – acquisition of new clients, diversification, and improving company profile in the local area.
•    Campaign management – printers will be able to help with planning and design, through to the implementation and monitoring of your projects
•    Data Management – list building, data capture through email marketing and websites.  Some of the larger printers will be able to assist you and your business with an array of other marketing and data management techniques.

Book Binding

Some printers may also offer a book binding service.  This is more commonly offered in large cities where universities are situated.  The printer will offer a range of bindings from cloth to leather and will be able to print and bind your book, including gold foil writing on the cover and spine.  Some printers offer a 24-hour printing and binding service where you can collect the book the next day.

How to play blackjack – a beginners guide

Blackjack is one of the world’s most popular tabletop gambling games. The idea behind the game is to accumulate cards and get the total number as close to twenty-one as possible. Going over twenty-one means that you are out of the game. Face cards are all worth ten, and an ace can be either one or eleven.

The rules of the game

Before the player receives any card they must place a wager. The blackjack dealer will then deal two cards, face up. The dealer will get one card face up, and one face down. Each player then chooses to either stay or take. If the player takes then the dealer will give them another card. When all of the players are finished the dealer will turn over their card. On counts of seventeen or higher the dealer must stay, and on counts of sixteen or lower the dealer must take. The winner is whoever is the closest to the number twenty-one. If you make twenty-one on the first two cards then you win automatically. This can only be achieved with a face card and an ace.

Its barbeque season already!

We had a glorious weekend this weekend and I decided that we should get our new barbeque out to celebrate seen as the weathers going to change this week.

Our new barbeque is a Weber Smokey Joe® which I bought about three weeks ago, but yesterday was the first time I had a chance to use it. This mini barbeque is great for us as we do a lot of camping and this one fits effortlessly in the back of the car.

Putting the barbeque together was easy and only took about 10 minutes, and then I filled it with coals and lit it, easy!

After about 20 minutes it was ready to cook on and although this is the smallest Weber barbeque it still has ample room to put enough food on for a family, and I have to admit that I do love a barbeque in the summer.

If you’re in the market for a small barbeque, then I would highly recommend the Weber Smokey Joe®, it has the iconic looks of the Weber brand and cooks better than any other barbeque I’ve ever owned.

Preparing Work for Studies, Assignments and Exams

Preparing work for studies can be a daunting prospect for students of any age who are tackling any subject, whether it be a GCSE in English, a music theory exam or a degree in physics or any other level of studies or subjects. The internet can provide students all over the United Kingdom with resources, help, advice and support through what can be quite a stressful time. With so much expectation on their shoulders, students can sometimes find this period of studying quite difficult so it is a good idea for them to take advantage of some of the many services that are on offer.

Certain websites offer essays to read which have been written by and marked by teachers and can give new students a very good idea of what will be expected of them in their work. They can not only help the student to understand better how to set out their work, but are also another mode of studying as they are genuine, information packed articles which will educate the student.

Students can see past essays which have been critiqued to show the pitfalls which can easily be fallen into, highlighting scenarios to avoid, making sure that the student is reminded to keep on the subject they are studying and not waste precious time going off at a tangent and talking about unnecessary things. There are also proofreading and editing services on offer so that the final result is as polished and well written as it possibly can be.

The new iPad is a tempting proposition

I’ve been looking at getting a tablet for a while now and have always looked at the iPad as being an expensive product compared to what you get from other manufactures, but I have to say that the new iPad genuinely has me interested.

Most of the innards have been upgraded including a quad-core A5X processor, a better Retina screen and up to 64GB of internal memory.

In addition to the beefed up specs the iPad also has access to the iCloud and App Store where you can download just about anything you can imagine.

I was hoping that Samsung or one of the other manufacturers would release a decent competitor to the iPad, but I think that Apple has it right this year and can’t see anything coming close to the new iPad.

Will I buy the new iPad? I’m really tempted, but it is still a lot of money and I’m really not sure that I’d get enough use out of it.
