Been looking at garden rooms to add more space to my house

Having a rapidly expanding family is great, but when you need more space in your house what can you do? I work from home quite a lot and have my own office in one of the bedrooms, but my kids are getting to the point where sharing a room isn’t very practical, which means I have to find a new place to do my work.

I have a big garden and most of it doesn’t get used and is overgrown, so I have been looking at getting a garden room fitted. These garden structures come complete with heating and electricity and can be used all year round as garden offices, studios or just a quiet room away from the hustle and bustle of the main house.

Double glazed windows and doors add security when the garden room isn’t being used and also keeps in the heat when you’re in there in the winter. The exterior of the garden room is clad in western red cedar which can be stained to match your garden furniture and the interior comes fully plaster boarded and electrical sockets fitted.

I’m definitely warming to the idea of having a garden room fitted and with prices starting from around £10,500 it is cheaper than getting my loft converted. Best thing is that a garden room doesn’t need any planning permission.

I’ll have to convince my wife first, but it could also add a lot of value onto our house if we ever decide to sell.

Study finds that power showers use two times as much water as baths

I found an interesting news article this morning about power showers and how they use twice as much water as a bath. The study found that the average family spends an average of £918 a year for the water and electricity to run an average power shower.

Our water pressure in the house is poor, so when I fitted our power shower it was a bit of a godsend, but after reading this I might have to fit a normal shower into our new ensuite instead of a power shower.

I did try to turn the water pressure up once, which was great for the standard shower, but meant that the water came out too fast for the taps and toilets in the house so I changed it back. I don’t see any way of having more water pressure to the shower unless I fit a water pump which will also take more electricity and water to run.

Wife has started playing bingo at Xbingo.com

My wife got an email from one of her good friends the other day saying that she should join xbingo.com. Having played on other bingo sites before she decided to join Xbingo and give it a try.

You get £5 absolutely free for registering and a 300% first deposit bonus. My wife says that the site is really easy to use and chats with her friends effortlessly. She hasn’t won anything yet, but one of her friends won a £200 jackpot last night.

Xbingo.com offers a range of 90 and 75 ball bingo games, as well as slot games and table games like roulette, multihand blackjack and double pin roulette. With prizes up to £1000 on its bingo games, xbingo.com is definitely worth a try.

Oh if I could afford a luxury holiday

Holidays come but once a year (for me and my family anyway) and next year I would love to book a once in a lifetime luxury holiday that the whole family could enjoy. I’m thinking somewhere like Jamaica or the Seychelles; I know it’s not going to be cheap but to have almost guaranteed sun (at specific times of the year of course) and access to water sports for the kids would be great.

There are lots of destinations to choose from, all with fantastic hotels and facilities that are sure to keep us and the kids occupied for the duration of the holiday. These hotels also have various bars and restaurants serving the best of local cuisine and drink and most have a selection of exotic pools and beaches to relax on.

I definitely think next summer we’ll try something special, it would certainly be a family holiday to remember.

Buying some new blinds for the house

Over the past few months I have been decorating the kid’s bedrooms and am finally getting round to doing ours and have decided to put blinds up as well to add the finishing touch. I’m quite a light sleeper and get woken up when it starts to get light in the morning, not good when it’s about 5:30 so I’ve decided to get some Blackout blinds to help.

Thankfully blackout blinds come in a range of different colours and patterns as my kids want ones that match their room’s colours, so I have ordered a pink set for my daughter and an orange set for my son. For our room I’ve gone for a patterned set that will match the colour of the walls which I have still to paint.

Ordering is really easy and you can put in the dimensions of your windows for a snug fit without cutting. The blinds should be delivered this week so will start putting them up at the weekend; hopefully it will help me sleep for a bit longer in the morning.

Bought my wife a set of digital scales for the kitchen

My wife likes to cook and bake and I like to eat, so I decided that she needed a new set of scales as the ones she had were passed on to her from her mum when she got a new one. I decided on some digital scales as they are more accurate than standard scales and a lot smaller too so they can be stored neatly away.

I opted for the Rad Professional RZ Series scales as they can weigh up to 1000 grams, more than enough for most things.

My wife loves her new scales and has been doing some experimentation with them; I’m not complaining as I like eating all the nice cakes and biscuits, but the chilli chocolate cookies were a bit strange.

What are you doing for the Royal Wedding? I’m off to Old Trafford!

Having heard so much hype about the Royal Wedding for the last few months I’ve decided that a family day trip is in order to get away from it all. Being a long standing Manchester United fan it seemed fitting that instead of sitting in front of the TV all day I would make the hundred mile trip to Old Trafford and take the stadium and museum tour.

I’ve been to Old Trafford quite a few times for over the years, but my kids haven’t been yet so what a great time to take them now that they are old enough to appreciate it. I’ve never driven up before because I’ve always used public transport, but I know the rough area where it is and there is ample parking next to the stadium.

I’m taking a marker pen just in case there are any players in and around the stadium, but I doubt it; they will probably be getting ready for Sunday’s game against Arsenal.

That’s what I’m doing for the Royal Wedding, what about you?

Brother’s birthday is coming, going to get him a new snuff bullet

It’s my brother’s birthday on the 31st of March and I’ve been wondering what to get him for a while. He likes to use snuff quite regularly and I thought I could get him some flavoured stuff for his birthday, but when he came round the other day he said he had lost his snuff bullet so I thought I would buy him a new one.

I’ve been looking around for a couple of hours and found the CheekyOne Posh Metal Snuff Bullet; this will be ideal for my brother as his old one was just a cheap plastic one, but a metal one should last him a few years, that is of course if he doesn’t lose it!

I’m also going to get him some Torue Snuff; they are available in ordinary and a wide range of different flavours, just don’t know which flavour to get him.

What’s your favourite snuff flavour? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Visiting the dentist every 3 to 12 months is really important!

Most people visit the dentist regularly, but some don’t and it’s important that you visit your dentist in Glasgow or local dentist every 3 to 12 months to keep your teeth and gums in good condition. Not visiting the dentist can lead to teeth decay and gum disease and will no doubt cost you more in the long run.

A dentist can treat and prevent a wide array of tooth and gum diseases and can advise you on what sort of toothpaste and tooth brushes to use on your specific teeth. They can also show you and your children how to brush and floss correctly to maintain good oral hygiene.

The main job of a dentist is to treat tooth and gum problems and one of the most common procedures that a dentist carries out are fillings. A filling is needed when the tooth has begun to decay and the bad bit of the tooth is removed by drilling; it is then filled with porcelain, non-precious metals or dental composite to fill the gap and prevent further decay. If the tooth is beyond repair it is often removed and replaced with a fake one.

A dentist can perform all sorts of procedures from fillings to treating gum disease and it is important that you visit your dentist in Glasgow or local practitioner regularly to maintain healthy teeth and gums and to help prevent against diseases and decay.

Holiday cottages in the South of England

I frequent holiday websites quite a lot thinking of ideas for the next family holiday, whether it be relaxing on a beach or skiing in the Alps I try to make it a new and exciting holiday. Although we have travelled to many European countries like France, Spain, Greece and Turkey on our holidays, we have never holidayed in this country.

When I was a child my family used to travel down the Cornwall, so I looked into renting a cottage online. There are literally hundreds of deals online starting from just £200 for 7 nights and can sleep up to 8 people. With flights getting more expensive and the exchange rates struggling, holidaying in England might not be such a bad idea.

Cornwall has lots of things to do including surfing and wind surfing, but there are also lots of places to visit like Clovely, Tintagel Castle and Land’s End. I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this before, imagine the money I’ve spent on flights and hotels for the family, when we could just all get into the car, drive down to Cornwall and have our own holiday cottage in the countryside.

I’ll definitely keep this in mind for next year’s family holiday!
